U.M.S.C. 1998 Strikers
Summer Soccer Camp

Camp Details

To reiterate what was in the email...

The cost for soccer camp is $125 per player ($25 per day). Please make cheques payable to the team "UMSC 1998 Strikers" (not to UMSC as stated in the camp brochure since we will make one cheque to the club) and try to give it to me after Thursday's game so I can get it into the bank by Friday.

Lunch will be purchased for those who contribute another $5 a day (pay up front in cash $25 so it's easier to buy the food), meals will include either subs at Quiznos, Pizza or chicken at Pizza Pizza, Burgers at McDonalds or Burgers and Hotdogs at DQ.

The players should meet at the washroom building next to field E (the one with the big lights and stadium seating which we can see from field C) between 8:00 and 9:00 in the morning. Either Bradley's mom Bernie or Sam's mom Deborah will be available to attend to the kids until 9:00 a.m. If you read the flyer on soccer camp (see link below), it mentions that the before and after care is $5 each, we won't need to pay this thanks to our volunteer parents. By the way, there was also an open invitation from Michael's mom Maggie to bring the kids to her place after the day but it would be nice to know how many kids before she commits. I'm pretty sure Maggie will not appreciate 14 yelling kids rummaging through the fridge...

Rex will be with the kids every day and will have help from one or more of these head coaches:

  • Sam Medeiros - Formerly from Portugal National Team, Ex-Head Coach of Vaughan Shooters, Head Coach of Toronto Supra, current UMSC Technical Director
  • Felipe Bento - Formerly from Brazil National Team, Head Coach for UMSC Academy
  • Paul Shaw - Head Coach of Sweet Briar College, Virginia, USA, Formerly UMSC Head Coach

How do you prepare for soccer camp:

  • 1) Bring your soccer kit containing your complete uniform, jersey, shorts, socks, shin pads, cleats, track suit and rain gear (last year's jacket is fine as rain gear if you have it).
  • 2) Bring sunscreen lotion and a baseball cap.
  • 3) Bring two bottles of water and two snacks.
  • 4) Always bring a bathing suit and towel (a small towel so it fits in your bag with all the other stuff)
  • 5) Eat a good breakfast and come to the field with a learning attitude (think fun but serious).
Do not bring a ball as the flyer says, Rex will be bringing the team balls.
